AVP Crocs Volleyball Tour

You wouldn’t expect beach-front property in Pittsburgh but this summer Pittsburgh's North Shore will see enough sand dumped on it to be able to claim that title. Making its debut over the Fourth of July weekend, the Association for Volleyball Professionals will bring its AVP Crocs Tour to the plaza at Heinz Field. The world's best pro beach volleyball players will compete in a professional tournament to coincide with the annual Three Rivers Regatta. Plans call for the construction of a 4,000-seat temporary stadium on the plaza level of Heinz Field, with additional courts and temporary stands on Art Rooney Way.  Being the sports town that it is, a real beach isn’t necessary to keep beach volleyball alive and well in Pittsburgh.
